in the early morning hours the lack of light will help conceal your movement... but your muzzle flash will give away your firing position. You'll need to reposition yourself at different vantage points... and always watch your six when you're on the move....

the storylines in this game are so numerous it's ridiculous. Like one of those 'choose your own adventure' books you read as a kid. As you pick up side quests, how you interact with the characters affects what and how the storyline will go. You'll see my response to the mayor in orange; this is an attempt to persuade him... which failed. What determines your power to persuade is charisma, and this you gain either by assigning level points directly to it, or by gradually increasing your karma through the game.

Or they hate me so much they love me. Not sure which, but I am sure that such antics are not bold enough to offend anyone.

I picked cait up in the combat zone; a gambling district run by raiders who fight in competitions for caps (bottle caps are the accepted currency in the common wealth... dollar bills are useless). She's an Irish mercenary who's addicted to psycho-jet. I paid off her debt... actually i just threatened to kill the guy if he didn't let her go... and now she's my partner. We're on our way to the vault to treat her for the addiction and we come across this junk-yard which some gunners have turned into an outpost. Cait and I have decided to take it.

This one's a little sloppy. I didn't scout the area good enough and got impatient. That fuckin' assaultron rolled up on us like nobody's business, man. Gotta watch out for those things... they're hard as fuck to kill. Cait's a trooper though and handled it quite well. She carries a double-barrel shotgun, but I equipped her with a custom made laser rifle called 'righteous authority'. It's got a significantly higher chance of a critical hit... that's what's special about it.

I am the general of a vigilante militia called 'the minute men', and what we do is patrol the commonwealth, defending people from raiders and super mutants. The minute men storyline is one of the optional main quests which results in a particular game ending... but I might not follow through with it, I dunno yet. Basically I'm supposed to defend and build defenses for communities so to re-establish civil order. In any case, we've just recently taken an old castle and turned it into a live-in base for communications (made beds, water pumps, even crops). The radio tower is used by the minute men infantry to coordinate their efforts. I've also just built some heavy artillery which can be given coordinates and strike targets miles away. Do you understand the power this gives me, now? I can call an artillery strike anywhere I want.

Check out that paint job, baby. I got the baddest power armor in the whole common wealth. Upgraded class C parts with all kinds of modifications. I've even put a vital signs monitor in it that automatically gives me a stim-pak injection if my health goes belows 35%.

while on a mission to retrieve some tech for the brotherhood, ms. piper and i (i've retired cait for a while) came across a most unlikely thing. a giant, rocket powered ship perched on top of a savings and loan building. upon boarding the vessel i discovered it was 'the constitution', a naval ship that had crashed landed on its way to the atlantic. the crew consisted of robots, the captain - 'ironsides' - an old military sentry bot. presently they were occupied with defending the ship against a seige of scavangers who had been trying to board the ship. after fending off the assault, he commissioned me to assist him in repairing the ship so that the constitution might once again take her flight.

note: captain ironsides is red hot because of just fighting off some scavangers. the sentry bot's flaw is that it overheats and has to pause to cool down... giving it's enemy a chance to get behind it and remove its fusion core (powering it down).
