Semiotics - Language/Symbols - numbers & letters

Wed Mar 07, 2018 9:29 am by Satyr

My thesis:
Language evolve from grooming.

Sequences of sound indicated phenomena in environment. More specificity was possible.
Later this evolved to indicate …

Examining Value Ontology

Thu Mar 01, 2018 6:13 am by Zoot Allures

quotes Barracuda is responding to are taken from:

Barracuda wrote:It is a beautiful passage, in which we can distinguish what held Nietzsche back from a comprehensive clarity. He still believed in, at least worked from, the duality of truth and appearance. In this way it could not become apparent to him that the value is not what derives from the …

Nihilism - Symptomatology

Wed Mar 14, 2018 8:23 am by Satyr

What is nihilism?
How does it spread?
How does it construct itself?

Why is it so creative, manifesting in multiplicity of variations, ideologies, philosophies?

We know the official definition, but is it accurate or a product of nihilists defining a world void of the human abstraction they need to endure it?
Is a cosmos void of god, universal morality, purpose, wholeness, a negative …

Philosophy's Branches and Roots.

Mon Feb 12, 2018 2:06 am by Mitra-Sauwelios

Zoot and I have been bickering a bit about the different fora. The current structure--General Philosophy, Metaphysics, etc.--is Zoot's spontaneous creation, and I think it has a lot going for it. "Metaphysics", for example, can now mean everything and anything that word has been used and misused to refer to. I started making descriptions for each forum, but that's where Zoot and I …

Genes <> Memes

Fri Mar 09, 2018 6:17 am by Satyr

Memes, ideals and ideologies, ways of reacting to world, emerge from genetic populations evolved within particular environments, establishing a specific attitude, psychological demeanour, made part of the populations innate spirit, over centuries of natural selection.
Each population carries in its DNA its entire history. Its known and unknown interactions with environment.
Its language is a …

Mon Mar 05, 2018 9:30 pm by Zoot Allures

thought i'd start a thread on this subject, since i mentioned something about it a moment ago in another thread. specifically about the ways the word 'consciousness' is used, both ordinarily and philosophically.

to kick it off, here are two really good threads about this subject from another forum:

consciousness and passage of time

why do we have consciousness

Love Ontology

Sat Mar 03, 2018 10:55 am by Satyr

My groundbreaking ontological insight merging Nietzsche and Christ, and Spinoza.
Synthesis of Will to Power, Immanence and the Old and New Testament.
I created it in a remote hut, wearing a burka, in the middle of an Asian steppe, during the winter of 2000, and people have been plagiarizing me ever since.
I was escaping Y2K, and found enlightenment is a desert where I met my shadow.

Love = …
